Fahrenheit 451
We have finally reached my favorite novel! Fahrenheit 451 is a hauntingly prophetic work of science fiction. Bradbury, writing in the 1950's, tried to envision what society would look like if our love affair with technology (remember he was thinking about the introduction of the TV into living rooms) continued. He predicted ear buds, ATM machines and huge TV's that covered the wall! Bradbury once said "I wasn't trying to predict the future. I was trying to prevent it." However, by the time he died in 2012, much of what he envisioned came to fruition. I do not believe there is a more appropriate time in history or a better audience than teenagers for Bradbury's big question: What are the implications of so having so much technology?
